Tree thinning or tree crowning? How to choose:

  • Tree thinning – thinning will not change the overall shape and size of the tree. It will also help to encourage and distribute new growth over the whole tree
  • Tree crowning (or topping) – more severe and used to reduce the overall size or height of a tree
